How often should I restore my roof?

We recommend you restore your cedar roof on average every 5 years. That entails cedar roof cleaning, repair and treatment. We recommend a shorter period in locations with more extreme conditions.

What is the life span of cedar roofs?

According the “Cedar Shingles and Shakes Bureau”, the average life span of cedar roofs is approximately 30-40 years.

What if my cedar roof is too old? ^HOT

We provide honest feedback and recommend that you get your house re-roofed. It is too risky to restore a very deteriorated roof.

Can pressure washing do damage?

We use low pressure washers and proper techniques to avoid damaging your cedar roof. A regular (high) pressure washer and improper use could potentially damage your cedar roof.

What do you repair on my roof?

Repairing a cedar roof typically involves replacing broken, damaged or missing pieces, re-nailing loose ones, re-aligning misaligned ones and using metal shims between pieces to prevent water leaks.

Do you replace all pieces?

No, we don’t. There is no need to replace every single piece, only the damaged or missing ones. We use our experience and our discretion to determine what needs to be repaired.

What is shimming and why shim?

Shimming is the insertion of aluminum or stainless steel thin metal strips (about 3″x8″) under shingles, shakes or ridge caps to prevent water leaks between them while maintaining proper ventilation.

Is your treatment toxic? ^HOT

No, it’s not. We use oil-based cedar roof treatment that is eco-friendly and not harmful to plants or building materials.

Can I hire you for a service only?

Yes, you can. However, we don’t usually provide individual services, so it’s case by case.

Can you replace my entire cedar roof?

Unfortunately, we cannot at the moment. However, we can refer you to contractors.

Do you outsource work to 3rd parties?

No, we don’t outsource any work! We complete all our mandates with our own crews.
